The Road to Success

It will hurt.

It will take time and effort.

It will require commitment.

It will require perseverance.

You will need to keep on making make healthy decisions.

It will require pain and sacrifice.

You will need to push yourself to the max at times.

There will be tough days and discouragement.

There will be temptations that you’ll have to push against.

But it will all be worth it – and you’ll get there in the end.

Leadership Boundaries

Only when you are able to set your own boundaries will you be able to acknowledge and respect the boundaries of others. ‪#‎leadership‬ ‪#‎life‬

You Are NOT A Leader If:

You’re waiting on a bigger staff and more money to accomplish your vision.

You think you need to be in charge to have influence.

You’re content.

You tend to foster division instead of generating a helpful dialogue.

You think you need to say something to be heard.

You find it easier to blame others for your circumstances than to take responsibility for solutions.

It’s been some time since you said, “I messed up.”

You’re driven by the task instead of the relationships and the vision.

Your dreams are so small, people think they can be achieved.

No one is following you.

Are You Committed to Success?

Here Are Some Things You Need To Do:

1. Have one main source of income but, at the same time, keep working on ways of developing additional sources of income. Over time, this will allow you move away from spending all your time on your “regular” job, so you can generate a passive stream of income.

2. Read broadly. This doesn’t necessarily heavy or serious books. Reading blogs and magazines can generate ideas and turn you into someone who knows something about a lot of things.

3. Have a few close friends and many other business and personal contacts. That provides you with support and people who can help you, and open doors for you.

4. Possess specialist knowledge in a couple of areas, and also know a little about many other things. This helps you understand the developing trends so you can use and adapt your knowledge more effectively.

5. Be willing to experiment. It’s good to know what tends to work for you, but you need to branch out and experiment as well. That will help you avoid being stuck in a rut.

6. Add new experiences into your life. It keeps you adaptable, open to new thinking, energetic, and full of life.

6 Obstacles to Being Successful

1. Seeing success as being determined by external factors. (So if I fail it’s circumstances or someone else’s fault.) This takes away my sense of power and keeps me stuck in failure and helplessness.

2. Personal blind spots. Sometimes we keep failing but we’re blind to the fact that there’s something we’re doing that is causing us to fail. That could be related to our communication style, our attitudes, lack of knowledge and ability, pursuing something that doesn’t suit our gifts and talents, and so on.

3. Self sabotage. Sometimes we don’t feel we deserve to succeed so unconsciously we do something that causes us to fail. This includes meditating on self-limiting thoughts (“I could never …; I don’t deserve …”).

4. Feeling ambivalent about the goals you’ve set. We often set a goal that is someone else’s goal so we’re not really sure if it’s what we want ourselves. That affects our motivation, and our will to succeed.

5. Fear of change. All successes bring some change – and that can feel quite threatening. And we’re often comfortable with our life as it is now – and so we wonder if success will really make us happier.

6. Pressure from others who don’t want you to succeed. It’s very common for our peers to be threatened by success. Hence, we don’t try our hardest as we recognize the cost will be social isolation, or rejection by our friends.

How to Win in Life

1. Know what you want to get out of life … as you won’t reach your goals if you don’t where you’re going.

2. Make a list of all things that you’re grateful for in life … as it will help to change your attitude, your feelings and your mood.

3. Count to 10 before reacting to someone or to something … as you don’t want to live with a series of regrets.

4. Track your progress so you know how you are doing on your journey … and can make needed adjustments if you start to get off course.

5. Take care of yourself or you’ll end up tired and burnt out … and you’ll lose the motivation to try, and persevere.
